Everything Great About the John Wick Movies
I don’t usually watch action movies, but there is one series that will always hold a special place in my heart: the John Wick franchise.
There’s something about it that makes it stand out from all the other action flicks out there, be it the immersive action or the captivating storyline that has you on the edge of your seat.
There is more than one factor that makes John Wick one of the best movies of all time, and this article points exactly why you should take a weekend and binge the entire series yourself too, even if you’ve watched it before.
Here’s everything you need to know.
The Story Kicks off from a Dog
Believe it or not, one of the best action movies of all time is based on a dog.
John is a retired assassin who is well-respected in the community, and everyone fears him for his set of skills, earning the nickname Baba Yaga, meaning the Boogeyman. However, a series of events occur, a certain dog is targeted, and John is pulled back into the world of assassins, more ruthless than he’s ever been.
You can catch the first three movies on Max and John Wick: Chapter 4 on the Roku Channel, but before you proceed, you need to ensure that you have a reliable internet connection at home that lets you stream as smoothly as possible.
I recommend looking into the best internet plans in your area so that you don’t have to compromise on your overall streaming experience.
The Action is Breathtaking
If you take a look at any other action movie, you’ll see that the protagonist rarely gets hurt throughout the movie as if they’re some superhuman. However, in John Wick, they kept everything as close to reality as they possibly could.
John not only beats people up but also gets beaten up (badly) in most cases as well.
This creates the idea that even though John is a well-respected and feared assassin because of his skills, underneath it all, he is just as human as everyone else. This is also what makes the movie true to reality and super immersive, because some moments in the movie will have you biting your nails in anticipation.
The Story Keeps You Hooked
John Wick isn’t your ordinary action movie; it’s a lot more than that.
The movie has a very personal feeling, provided that the plot really strikes a nerve when you know what the backstory is (which I can’t tell you since it is a major spoiler). Once you see the reason behind John entering the world of assassins again, you can’t help but agree with his reasoning.
This isn’t only true for the first movie, but for the rest of the three as well.
In fact, not a single movie in the series made me feel like I was getting bored; every part was more exciting than the last one.
Keanu Reeves!
Honestly, the whole series would have been incomplete without Keanu Reeves, because I believe no one else could have done justice to the role as well as he did.
He poured his soul and truly embodied the John Wick character. I’ve seen a couple of other action movies with Keanu, such as The Matrix, Constantine, and Speed, but none of them could ever come close to the brilliance of John Wick.
All in all, John Wick will always be my all-time favorite Keanu Reeves movie.
It Has a Game in Development
I know this isn’t directly about the movie series, but you’ll be glad to know that the movies are so great that they’re working on a game based on the movie as well!
They dropped a trailer recently, and the best part is that it features Keanu Reeves as well, as the face model and even the voice acting.
The trailer took inspiration from the events of John Wick 2, in which John gets a special bulletproof suit tailored for himself made out of Kevlar. In the trailer, John first gets his suit, and then it shifts to the gameplay, which is exactly like watching the movies.
As of now, the game does not have a specific release date; rumors suggest that it will be released in 2027 or 2028.
Now that you know everything you need to know about the John Wick movies, you should now dedicate a day or two when you can stream all of the movies and become a superfan like myself!
